The
former name of Rajabhat Institute Suan Dusit is Home Affairs
Extraordinary Secondary School. It was the first home affairs
school in Thailand under the Vocational Education Department
of the Ministry of Education, first opened on may 17, 1934
at the palace of the Royal Princess Krome Luang Chumporn Khat
Udomsak (presently the location of Rajamongkala Institute
of Technology, Bangkok Commerce Campus). The objective of
the school is to educate young ladies on home affairs in a
3 year curriculum. In 1945, the

boundary on the area of 78.4 acres at no. 295 on Ratchasima
Road, Dusit District, Bangkok 10300. By that time, the school
was renamed as the Bangkok School of Home Affairs under supervision
of the Teachers Practice division of the Common Education
Department.
In
1961, the Ministry of Education upgraded the school to college
and renamed it as Suan Dusit Teachers College for high education
curriculum and in 1974 it was first extended to Bachelor Degree

In 1985, after amendment of the Teachers College Act (No.
2) B.E. 2527 (1984), the college could open other courses
besides teachers profession under the new of Suan Dusit Teachers

its type to co-education for first-time enrollment of male
students. In
1992, it is the year of auspice when H.M. the King kindly
gave “Rajabhat” as the new name of the college. Later in 1995,
the enactment of the Rajabhat Institutes B.E. 2538 (1995)
came into force as prescribed in the Royal Gazette, Decree
Edition, on the 24th January 1995. The college then turned
to be a higher academy with full honor and legal rights. This
made changes in development and creation of Rajabhat Institutes
in the role of higher education institutes for exact local
developments. |
