SDU Nakhon Nayok Teaches Thai Phuan Culture

The Nakhon Nayok Education Center of Suan Dusit University ran its fourth cultural learning activity this year, this time built around Thai Phuan communities — their history, their way of life, and the crafts that go with it. Students from the Early Childhood Education program came along.

They started with the story of the Thai Phuan people. Where they came from, how they settled in Nakhon Nayok, what shaped their local identity. From there the group moved straight into making things with their hands.

Two crafts stood out: Thai Phuan-style pillows, stitched the traditional way, and folk toys made using old local techniques passed down through generations.

None of this came from a textbook. Students learned it from the community itself, sitting with people who still hold this knowledge. The idea is that they’ll carry it forward — into their own classrooms, their own lesson plans, once they start teaching.

Everything happened at the Chaloem Rat Cultural Center, Wat Fang Khlong, Pak Phli District, Nakhon Nayok, running from 1.00 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. on July 9, 2026.
