Research and Development Institute Holds Journal Quality Development Project for Scopus Database: Strategies to Raise Quartile Rankings and Boost Academic Impact

Journal editors from across Suan Dusit University filled the 5th floor meeting room on July 23, 2026, for a project built around one goal: getting more Thai journals recognized in Scopus. Assoc.Prof. Dr.Chanasuek Nichanong opened the floor. As Vice President for Management, Research and Innovation, she welcomed the crowd and set the tone for the day ahead.

The topic on the table was journal quality — specifically, how editors can push their publications up the Quartile rankings while reaching more readers in the academic world. Prof. Dr. Narongrit Sombatsompop took the lead here. He heads the Thai-Journal Citation Index Centre, known widely as TCI, and spent the session breaking down what actually moves a journal’s standing in Scopus.

Attendees left with a clearer picture of the steps ahead — practical, not theoretical, and grounded in what TCI has seen work for other Thai journals chasing the same goal. The Research and Development Institute wrapped things up at the University Office Building that afternoon.
