SDU Pre-Degree Opens University Classroom, Building High School Students’ Skills in Ingredient Selection and Food Preparation
A new group of high schoolers stepped into a university kitchen this month, as 4th-year Food Entrepreneurship students from Triam Udomsuksa Pattanakan Khelang Nakhon School joined Suan Dusit University’s Lampang Education Center for the latest round of SDU Pre-degree classes on Thursday, July 2, 2026.
Nothing fancy on the agenda — just the basics, but the basics that matter most: picking out quality ingredients that actually fit the dish, then handling them properly before they hit the pan. Instructor Thitiwarada Jaisamlee, from the Culinary Technology and Service Program, walked students through it hands-on, making sure proper food-handling habits took root early rather than getting bolted on later.
That’s really the point behind SDU Pre-degree in the first place — pulling high school students into a real university setting, learning straight from experienced instructors, so by the time they actually enroll, career-ready skills and hands-on confidence are already in place.
