SDU Pre-Degree Opens Learning Experience Through “Inspired by Chef” Activity, Sparking Culinary Skills with Professional Instructors

Students in the SDU Pre-degree program got a taste of hands-on culinary learning through the “Inspired by Chef” activity, sparking their interest in food-related careers alongside a professional instructor. Chef Charuk Sriarun, a seasoned expert in the culinary field, guided students through techniques and know-how up close.

The class centered on European cuisine — pizza, specifically — with students learning the full process from choosing ingredients to preparing dough, right through to baking and plating, all through a hands-on workshop format that let everyone learn by doing. The activity gave students room to build real culinary skills, sharpen creative thinking, and get a genuine feel for the university’s standard practice rooms — while building excitement for further study and a future career in the field.

Getting a head start like this means students arrive at university already prepared, with real experience and confidence to build on at the higher education level.
