Office of Business Affairs Partners with Suphanburi Campus for Knowledge Exchange on Global Muslim-Friendly Hospitality Index (GMHI) Certification
Getting a hotel certified as genuinely Muslim-friendly takes more than good intentions — it takes a specific set of standards, and that’s exactly what brought Suan Dusit University’s Office of Business Affairs together with the Suphanburi Campus this July. Dr.Waranee Vessoontorntep opened the floor as Vice President for the Suphanburi Campus, welcoming a room full of staff eager to understand what Global Muslim-Friendly Hospitality Index (GMHI) certification actually involves.
Dr. Sutan Mumdaeng took the lead first, tracing the journey “From MOU to Success” — how Suan Dusit Place Hotel worked its way toward GMHI certification one step at a time. Prasert Khomida, Assistant Manager at the hotel, followed up with the practical side of things: what the certification process demands and where the real work happens in meeting Muslim-friendly hospitality standards.
Talk wasn’t the only thing on the agenda that day. Everyone walked the hotel’s kitchen, guest rooms, and dining spaces together afterward, swapping ideas on how each space could line up better with the standards they’d just discussed. The whole thing came together July 24, 2026, at the Golden Lakeview Meeting Room inside the Halal Food Practice Center, Chanthrajaroen Building, Suphanburi Campus.
