Suan Dusit University Holds Ceremony to Commemorate the Birthday Anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother, and National Mother’s Day, August 12, 2026

Alms bowls, floral trays, monks chanting blessings — Suan Dusit University marked two occasions at once on Tuesday, August 11, 2026: the birthday anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother, and National Mother’s Day. The Student Development Division organized the ceremony at the Raktakanit Auditorium, 1st floor, as a show of loyalty and gratitude for her boundless royal grace.

Associate Professor Patcharee Suankaew, Vice President for Student Affairs, presided on behalf of the President. The ceremony followed the traditional sequence: lighting candles and incense before the Triple Gem, then a floral tray offered in royal respect before Her Majesty’s portrait. Monks were invited to recite and grant the precepts, offerings were made to the presiding monk, and an officer led the words of offering alms food. The monks gave their blessing, water was poured in ceremonial dedication, and then came the heart of it — executives, faculty, staff, students of Suan Dusit, and students of La-orutis Demonstration School together offering dry food and rice to 10 monks, dedicating the merit to Her Majesty.

Everyone showed up in traditional Thai attire — a small detail, maybe, but one that said plenty about identity and loyalty on a day built around both.
