Dr. Park Youngho Speaks at the 385th Casual Chat

“Brewing Culture: A Café Talk on Korea and China”

On 30 September 2025, Dr. Park Youngho, a KOICA advisor to the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, delivered a talk at the 385th Casual Chat, entitled “Brewing Culture: A Café Talk on Korea and China,” organized by Suan Dusit Poll.

Dr. Park shared insights on the similarities between Korean and Chinese cultures, particularly their roots in Confucian philosophy, which emphasizes filial piety, respect for elders, and the importance of family, as well as their approaches to writing and language use. He also highlighted cultural differences, such as personality traits and external influences, and encouraged reflection on how attitudes and values have evolved from past generations to the present.

The session was moderated and interpreted by Ms. Kanokwan Kunlasuth, Assistant Dean for International Affairs, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. The event was honored by the presence of Asst. Prof. Kwanhathai Choedchoo, Assistant to the President and Chair of the English for Communication Program; Asst. Prof. Dr. Boonyalak Tumnanchit, Assistant Dean for Curriculum Development; Asst. Prof. Dr. Jitchin Jittisukaphong, Assistant Dean for Policy and Planning; as well as university staff and students from the Chinese for Service Career Program.

The lively discussion took place at the Poll Café, where participants engaged enthusiastically in cultural exchange and dialogue.
