“Next Frame” Event Spotlights New-Generation Short Filmmakers Building Thailand’s Creative Soft Power

Suan Dusit University brought together its Digital Media and Content Creation program and its Innovation and Entrepreneurship program for “Next Frame: A Stage for New-Generation Short Films, Building Thailand’s Soft Power for the Future” — an event tying into sustainable development goals (SDGs) and cultural value creation. Students, faculty, and guests filled the Multi Purpose Space at OWL, 1st floor, Office of Academic Resources and Information Technology, on Thursday, July 23, 2026.

M.R. Chalermchatri Yukol, the well-known director, headlined a talk titled “Storytelling Through Thai Film,” sharing perspectives from decades behind the camera. Thawiwat Wantha moderated the session, joined by Ponlasan Noknuam for a panel discussion and showcase titled “New-Generation Short Films.” Students then had the chance to screen their own short film projects at OWL Theater, 1st floor.
