SDU Marks Asalha Puja and Buddhist Lent 2026
Asst.Prof.Dr.Pitauk Chancharoen, President of Suan Dusit University, presided over a merit-making ceremony marking Asalha Puja and the start of Buddhist Lent for 2026. Suan Dusit University Savings Cooperative organized the event, joined by the Faculty and Staff Council, the Student Development Division, the Office of Special Affairs (Suan Dusit Kitchen), and the Facilities Division. It ran Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Poll Café, 1st Floor, University Office Building.
Administrators, faculty, staff, and other participants took the Buddhist precepts together and sat in on a dharma talk titled “The Millionaire’s Mantra: Turning Crisis Into Light.” Phrakhru Phawanatheerawarakhun (Pairat Warato), Abbot of Wat Phleng Klang Suan in Taling Chan and Deputy Sangha Chief of Bang Chueak Nang Sub-district 2, delivered the talk, offering reflections meant to guide people in their daily lives.
Afterward, the President and university management presented Buddhist Lent candles, dry food, and monastic offerings to the monks — including items contributed by staff beforehand. Once the monks chanted their blessing, participants poured water in the traditional Thai merit-transfer rite, received blessings, and paid their final respects, closing the ceremony at 11.00 a.m. The morning carried a warm, contented feel throughout, keeping alive a cherished Buddhist tradition among the Suan Dusit community.
