Suan Dusit University Trang Education Center Holds Short Course on “Cocoa Cultivation and Cocoa Orchard Management for Quality Yields” under the High-Value Cocoa Production and Processing Innovation Project for the Phayom Thong Community Enterprise, Trang Province

Suan Dusit’s Trang Education Center ran a short course recently on cocoa — specifically, how to grow it and manage an orchard well enough to get quality yields. It falls under a bigger project aimed at developing high-value cocoa production and processing for the Phayom Thong community enterprise in Trang.

The idea behind the training, put together by the center’s research committee, is to turn that community enterprise into something like a hands-on “cocoa learning space” — covering everything from growing the beans to processing and eventually selling them. Members of the Phayom Thong group showed up to learn the ropes.

Two instructors came in from the Faculty of Agricultural Technology at Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya’s Nakhon Si Thammarat campus to lead it: Assistant Professor Dr. Surasak Chuthong and Assistant Professor Dr. Suwansa Choocherd. By most accounts the participants walked away satisfied and with some new know-how. The training took place on Friday, July 31, 2026, at the Dusit Kajorn Meeting Room, Suan Dusit University Trang Education Center.
